Frankie & Farra's Story...

Picture
Frankie and Farra were the 2nd pair of twins a couple by the names of Joshua and Maria gave birth to. Doctors kept saying that the twins' Pregnancy was progressing normally, and that everything would be normal. However, Maria just knew in her heart that something wasn't quite right this time. Joshua & Maria had twin boys just 2 years earlier, and their finances still weren't settled after all the diapers they bought & such. But they were determined to make it work with this pair.

Just 7 whole weeks before Maria's due date, she went into labor with Frankie & Farra. It was a short 6 hours before she needed to begin pushing.

Once Maria began pushing, everyone sensed something wrong was about to happen...
Frankie was born first, at 6:24 PM. Doctors rushed her to the NICU, even though twins are almost always born somewhat early.
Farra was born next, at 6:31 PM. Doctors also rushed Farra to the NICU, meanwhile Maria & Joshua patiently waited to get the OK on their baby girls.
About 4 hours later, Doctors came down to break the news to Maria & Joshua. "Well" He said, "You've got good news, and bad news." He paused for a moment..."Good news is, Frankie is happy & healthy. She's a little on the lighter side, but she'll put on some weight after some time in the NICU."
Maria & Josh looked at each other and smiled. "What about Farra?" Joshua asked excitedly. The doctor's smile faded fast, and looked at his clipboard. "The Bad News: Farra has Respitory Distress Syndrome."
Joshua & Maria looked at each other, with frowning faces. "W-What does that mean for her?" Maria asked. "Well, She has a chance at life. RDS is when a Preemie, like herself, has undeveloped lungs-Usually the last part to develop before a baby is born. Depending on how bad the damage is being born this early, this could either last her whole life, or just the first few weeks. We're going to keep the twins in the NICU for awhile & make sure they're ok."

Maria & Joshua were heartbroken to leave their twin girls at the hospital, but knew it was for the best & for them to get better. 2 weeks later, doctors called saying that Frankie could go home, but Farra's lung damage was worse than they thought, and that she would need years of expensive therapy & medical attention. Joshua and Maria needed to make an important desicion, especially since Joshua lost his job just a week after they were born...Would they keep the twin girls? Or put them with a better home who could provide medical attention? Eventually, Joshua & Maria made the decision to put them up for adoption to be with a better family who could afford it all.

I eventually ended up adopting this adorable duo, and They are absolutely amazing twins!
